UNDATED (AP) — The utility company that serves southern Louisiana is now reporting about 270,000 outages from Hurricane Isaac, mostly in Jefferson and Orleans parishes.
In the immediate aftermath of the storm, more than 900,000 were without power. Some officials are expressing impatience with the pace at which utility crews are restoring power.
In New Orleans, most of the downtown area and the French Quarter are back on line.
In the town of Lafitte, which was badly flooded by the storm, officials are allowing property owners and residents to return and begin cleaning up.
To the north, along the path taken by the remnants of the storm, there are no reports of damage in Illinois from two tornadoes that were spun off from the storm system.
In Missouri, where at least two other twisters touched down, officials say some power lines caught fire.
