CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Hundreds of Christians have held a spirited revival in the North Carolina amphitheater where the Democratic National Convention will be held this week.
Sunday's assembly for preaching, songs and prayers of confession, called Charlotte714, was named after the Bible verse that says God will forgive his people and heal their land if they sincerely pray and "turn from their wicked ways."
Charlotte714 organizer David Benham denounced what he called "demonic agendas, sexually perverse agendas." But he insisted that the battle is more spiritual than political, and that neither Democrats nor Republicans are the enemy.
Benham prayed for "a wave of the Holy Spirit" to penetrate the nation.
