WASHINGTON (AP) — Mitt Romney says he'd heal the nation's economic woes, but in his speech to the Republican National Convention, he never mentioned his plans for some of the costliest government programs.

No mention of Social Security, or Iraq or Afghanistan. And as his party heavily courted Latino voters, Romney never mentioned his plans for illegal immigration. Some 12 million Latinos are expected to vote in November, millions of them in swing states like Florida and Colorado.

Romney has largely stayed away from discussing his plans for Social Security, other than to say he'd gradually raise the retirement age. And on Iraq and Afghanistan, polls show Americans want the U.S. to pull its troops out. President Barack Obama is seen as doing just that.
