TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — After two years of planning, tens of millions of dollars and four days of non-stop politics, Tampa city leaders are ecstatic with the results of the Republican National Convention.
Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn and Police Chief Jane Castor said at a news conference Friday that only two people were arrested during the event.
The Republican National Convention ended Thursday night. City leaders and GOP officials initially thought that then-Tropical Storm Isaac would threaten the convention, but the storm turned away from Tampa.
Buckhorn said that the Gulf Coast city "stood up and stood tall while the world was watching."
