JINDAL: OBAMA, ROMNEY VISITS NON-POLITICAL - Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal says the state welcomes both President Obama and Republican candidate Mitt Romney and insists neither visit will be political.
ISAAC EVACUEES BEGIN LONG WAIT IN SHELTER - Residents of Plaquemines Parish find shelter at a local high school after Hurricane Isaac made a mess of their neighborhoods. It is not clear when they will return home.
LOUISIANA EVACUEES DAYS FROM GOING HOME - Deep floodwaters cover parts of Louisiana after Isaac dumped 16 inches of rain and pushed water over levees. At least 500 people were rescued by boat.
MISSISSIPPI DRYING OUT FROM ISAAC - Residents of the storm-saturated Mississippi Gulf Coast ventured out to examine the damage from Isaac as local governments lifted curfews.
REPUBLICAN NATIONAL CONVENTION
ROMNEY'S PARTING WORDS TO FLORIDA - Mitt Romney left Florida telling supporters he needs their help to win the White House.
DAY AFTER CONVENTION, RYAN GOES AFTER OBAMA - Leaving the RNC in Florida, vice presidential candidate Rep. Paul Ryan touches down in Virginia, saying President Obama has only run on words and not a record of action.
DEM. CHAIR: GOP 'DIVISIVE, NEGATIVE CAMPAIGNING' - Florida native and Democratic Party chairwoman, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Shultz, criticized Mitt Romney's speech Thursday evening at the RNC saying it was 'almost completely devoid of any policy specifics.'
ROMNEY: TIME TO TURN THE PAGE - Mitt Romney says it's time to turn the page and move past the disappointments of the last four years.
CHRISTIE: ROMNEY DID 'A GREAT JOB' - Republicans including New Jersey Governor Chris Christie are applauding Mitt Romney's acceptance speech at the RNC. A top Democrat calls the speech 'divisive.'
ROMNEY: TIME TO LEAVE DISAPPOINTMENTS BEHIND - Romney's mission in this election was to connect with Americans on a personal level. He sought to do so with his speech by appealing to feelings of anxiety rippling through the electorate as the nation faces an uncertain economy.
AP FACT CHECK: NOT WHOLE BAIN STORY - Mitt Romney used his acceptance speech to explain his work at Bain Capital. However, AP Correspondent Stephen Braun said he left out some key facts.
ROMNEY ADDRESS THE RNC - Various clips from Romney's acceptance address to the RNC, including his official acceptance of the nomination and his closing statements.
CLINT EASTWOOD IS MITT ROMNEY'S OPENING ACT - Clint Eastwood whipped up the crowd at the RNC ahead of GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney's acceptance speech.
GINGRICH: WE NEED 'REAL LEADERSHIP' - Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich told delegates that it is 'striking' how President Obama took the nation down a path that, he says, weakened America's confidence in itself and Americans' hope for a better future.
JEB BUSH TO OBAMA: STOP BLAMING MY BROTHER - Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush addressed the RNC and said that President Barack Obama was dealt a tough hand, but his policies have not worked to improve the U.S. economy.
NEW JERSEY SHOOTING - Police in Old Bridge, New Jersey say three people are dead, including the gunman, after a shooting in a Pathmark supermarket. The 23-year-old gunman was an employee of the store.
CAMPAIGN - Romney heads to Louisiana to survey the damage made by Hurricane Isaac, while Paul Ryan heads to Virginia without him. President Obama will be in Ft. Bliss, Texas to address the military on the second anniversary of the day he announced the end of the U.S. combat role in Iraq.

CLINTON WELCOMED TO COOK ISLANDS - Secretary of State Hillary Clinton arrived in the South Pacific at the top of a six-nation Asia tour. Clinton was welcomed to the Cook Islands by exotic, colorfully clad local traditional dancers and dignitaries and lots of drumming.
SPAIN WILDFIRES - A wildfire devoured hillsides around Marbella in Spain. One person died, two suffered burns and some 4,000 were forced to evacuate. Officials say the latest first started outside the town of Coin and arson is the suspected cause.
JAPAN APPLE VS. SAMSUNG - A Japanese court has dismissed Apple's claim that Samsung infringed on its patent.
MINERS CHARGED IN SOUTH AFRICA - About 270 miners were charged with the murders of 34 striking colleagues who were shot by South African police officers.
MEXICAN ELECTION - Mexico's highest election voted to dismiss legal challenges mounted by the second-place leftist candidate seeking to overturn the results of the July presidential election.
SYRIA - Turkey appealed to a reluctant UN Security Council for a safe haven for thousands of Syrians facing a 'humanitarian disaster' as Britain and France said they would rule out no option, including a no-fly zone.

UK LIE DETECTOR TEST FOR SEX OFFENDERS - A pilot scheme in the UK requiring high-risk sex offenders to have regular lie detector tests has had a significant impact on cutting re-offending, according to organizers. The British Government is now planning to toll out mandatory polygraph tests for high risk sex offenders across England and Wales following the success of the trial.
SENIOR TALENT SHOW IN AUSTRALIA - 14 finalists have competed in Australia's largest talent quest held for those over 55 years of age.
GERMAN TELEVISIONS - Televisions with four times the resolution of HD and huge 84-inch screen are on show at the IFA consumer electronics show in Berlin.
VIETNAM CAVE - The limestone hills around the Hon Chong caves in southern Vietnam are being quarried to feed the growing domestic cement industry. But conservationists say this is causing the destruction of habitats for native flora and fauna and damaging biodiversity in the region.
