PASADENA, Md. (AP) — Anne Arundel County fire officials say seven people, including four children, have been taken to area hospitals after two boats collided on the Magothy (Mah-GOTH-ee) River near Pasadena.
The accident occurred just after 7 p.m. Wednesday. Nearby residents used their own boats to help rescue those injured.
Lt. Keith Hamilton of the Anne Arundel County fire department said late Wednesday that three children, ages 5 to 12, were transported to the Johns Hopkins pediatric trauma center in Baltimore. The 5-year-old, a girl, was the most seriously injured.
Another boy was taken to the Johns Hopkins emergency room.
Two adult men, ages 40 and 54, were taken to Maryland Shock Trauma in Baltimore while a 51-year-old patient was transported to Baltimore Washington Medical Center. Two patients declined treatment on the scene.
Hamilton said all of those rescued were conscious, alert and oriented.
