DEL MAR, Calif. (AP) — Winding Way rallied from a distant last to win the $150,000 Rancho Bernardo Handicap for Sunday at Del Mar.
Under Rafael Bejarano, Winding Way beat Sugarinthemorning by a half-length in the 6 1/2-furlong sprint for fillies and mares.
Winding Way paid $4.80, $3.40 and $2.60. Sugarinthemorning returned $4.20 and $2.60, and Rumor paid $2.80 to show.
The winner earned $90,000 for her first stakes success to increase her career total to $163,800.
