WASHINGTON (AP) — Well-known Republicans John McCain, Mike Huckabee and Condoleezza Rice are among the first speakers announced for the GOP's convention.

Up-and-comers such as South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez are set to speak, too, as Mitt Romney formally accepts his party's nomination later this month in Tampa. Governors from battleground states — such as Ohio's John Kasich and Florida's Rick Scott — will also address the convention.

The schedule was first reported by The Tampa Bay Times late Sunday morning and confirmed to The Associated Press by Republican officials with direct knowledge of the plan. The officials spoke on the condition of anonymity because convention officials planned to announce the schedule Monday morning.

The GOP is not yet announcing who will deliver the keynote address.
