LAS VEGAS (AP) — Vice President Joe Biden is praising America's veterans for the sacrifices they've made on behalf of their country.

He also says President Barack Obama is committed to making sure that veterans from wars in Iraq and Afghanistan get proper medical treatment and that the administration is working to reduce a backlog of disability claims.

Biden was in Las Vegas on Saturday to speak at the Disabled American Veterans national convention.

His speech came one day after Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney was in North Las Vegas.

The candidates are competing fiercely for Nevada's six electoral votes.
