LITCHFIELD, Ill. (AP) — Illinois State Police say several people have been taken to trauma centers and hospitals following a crash of a double-decker Megabus that killed at least one person.
Four people have been flown by helicopter to a trauma center in Springfield. Memorial Medical Center spokesman Michael Leathers says the hospital treated a total of six patients, including the four who were flown by helicopter.
Brian Reardon, a spokesman for St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield, says that hospital has treated more than 20 patients, including some who were treated and released. Reardon says others had moderate injuries, "such as bone fractures." He says two other nearby hospitals also are treating patients.
Officials from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration say they've been notified of the crash and will work with local authorities.
