BLISSFIELD, Mich. (AP) — Military officials say the Ohio man charged in the fatal shootings of his ex-girlfriend and her sister in Michigan previously served in the Ohio National Guard and was deployed to Iraq for nearly a year.
Michigan State Police say 38-year-old Thomas Fritz of Sylvania is charged with killing the women and wounding their mother Friday in Blissfield, about 20 miles northwest of Toledo, Ohio. Police searching for Fritz consider him to be armed and dangerous.
The Blade in Toledo reports Fritz was a specialist in the military police and deployed to Iraq in 2003 with the Ohio National Guard.
The newspaper says Fritz graduated from the police academy at Owens Community College after returning home and went through the college's criminal justice technology program.
