CHICAGO (AP) — Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr.'s disclosure that he's suffering from a "mood disorder" still leaves many questions about his secretive medical leave. And it's unclear if the Illinois Democrat has satisfied calls to be more open about his month-long absence.
Democratic leaders in Congress were ratcheting up pressure on Jackson to reveal more information when his office released a brief statement Wednesday.
Citing his doctor, the statement said Jackson was receiving "intensive medical treatment at a residential treatment facility for a mood disorder." But it didn't disclose Jackson's whereabouts or his doctor's name.
Several experts said that based on the doctor's statement, they believed Jackson may be suffering from depression.
Jackson's medical leave was announced two weeks after it began June 10. His office has been mum on details ever since.
