WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama says the nation's success wouldn't be possible without the generations of immigrants who have come to America from around the world.

Obama spoke at a naturalization ceremony at the White House Wednesday for more than two-dozen active duty U.S. service members. Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano administered the oath of allegiance.

Obama called the naturalization ceremony the perfect way to celebrate the nation's birthday.

The White House says other administration officials are also presiding over naturalization ceremonies across the country on the Fourth of July.

Later Wednesday, Obama will host military families at the White House for a barbeque and fireworks viewing.
