Eyesight loss fails to dim man's passion for drums

GENOA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — Scott Myers plays drums and remodels homes despite being made blind following a vicious attack 16 years ago.

Myers tells (http://bit.ly/LgTxbc ) the Livingston County Daily Press & Argus of Howell that his hands are enough to get both jobs done.

The Genoa Township man does all the hands-on work for his own custom home remodeling business northwest of Detroit. He also is a member of a band that plays mostly heavy-metal rock.

He was a nursing student at Eastern Michigan University and living in Ypsilanti when someone he knew only in passing broke in his home and attacked him.

Over the next three years, Myers endured 15 surgeries.

He later co-founded Visually Impaired and Blind in Livingston, a support group for those who are fully or partially blind.
