The Waldo Canyon Fire near Colorado Springs flared up around noon Saturday and grew out of control amid hot, dry and gusty conditions.
About 1,050 homes have been evacuated, and orders were in place on the west side of Colorado Springs and in the towns of Cascade, Ute Pass and Manitou Springs.
