DALLAS (AP) — Firefighters across Texas are trying to help a colleague's family cope with their 4-year-old son's terminal cancer, one photo at a time.

Dallas firefighter Dameon Burcie told fellow firefighters in April that his son, Dyrk, wouldn't continue intensive treatment.

Firefighters rose to the task of cheering up the family by organizing pictures that spelled out Dyrk's name and a message.

The effort spread and photos were posted on a Facebook page devoted to Dyrk.

Ronnie Roe, a Burcie family friend and fellow Dallas firefighter said, "They're getting really creative with some of their messages."

One photo included two fire trucks and digitally added logos from "Transformers," Dyrk's favorite.

Another photo was taken from 100 feet in the air, capturing "DYRK" spelled out in burning hay.
