CLEARLAKE, Calif. (AP) — One of two men tried in a shooting at a backyard barbecue in Northern California that killed a 4-year-old boy and wounded five others has been convicted.

A jury found 24-year-old Orlando Lopez guilty Friday of one count of murder, five counts of attempted murder and other charges. He is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 7.

Authorities say Lopez and 22-year-old Paul Braden fired shotguns at people attending the barbecue in Clearlake last June. Four-year-old Skyler Rapp died. Five adults, including the boy's mother, were wounded.

The shooting was apparently the culmination of a feud between two families.

Lopez's attorney, Stephen Carter, tells the Lake County Record-Bee (http://bit.ly/KfR5QA) his client intends to appeal.

Jury deliberations in Braden's case are expected to start Tuesday.
