2 Charged In Hit & Run Involving Amish Buggy In Fairfield County

Fairfield County deputies have arrested two people in connection to a crash involving an Amish buggy.

A family of three, was thrown from their buggy and injured last Wednesday, when it was struck in Fairfield County. The driver fled the scene.

Deputies say a tip from the public led them to the vehicle that was involved in the crash.

Owner Erica Lancour, 24, was questioned in Lancaster. She said she was not the driver.

Investigators then located Jacob P. Hammond, 19, who was allegedly behind the wheel on the night of the crash.

Hammond, from New Lexington, confessed to the crime. Deputies say he admitted to driving without a license and being "high" at the time.

Hammond is facing charges of leaving the scene of a crash, driving without a license, and reckless operation. Lancour was arrested on a probation violation.
