The ramp from Interstate 70 West to SR 315 North will not open as scheduled on September 1. The Ohio Department of Transportation reports it will stay closed until the end of October to install a new deck.
It closed for a deck overlay on August 11. Workers were planning to remove two and a half inches of old concrete and replace it with new concrete.
However, ODOT reports the workers discovered the deck was in such bad shape that an overlay wouldn't work and they needed to replace more than 75% of the surface.
Crews will demolish the entire bridge deck after Labor Day and replace it with another.
It will cost about $185,000 which brings the total cost of the project to $650,000.
The ramp is expected to re-open October 27.
ODOT suggests the following detours:
I-70 west to SR 315 north: Drivers need to stay to the right and follow the signs for SR 315 north.
The SR 315 north to Rich/Town Street ramp will be closed to allow I-70 west drivers more room to merge onto SR 315 north.
Here is how traffic will be impacted next week to complete the bridge demolition.
