Three people were injured when they jumped from a third-story window to escape an apartment fire.
The fire started around 1:00 a.m. Saturday along Greenfield Drive in southwest Columbus, just north of Greenlawn Avenue.
The fire sparked on the second floor and quickly spread to the third floor.
Witnesses said two adults and a 10-year-old child jumped from a window into the bushes below.
10TV spoke with other people who escaped the building.
They said the building has working smoke detectors, but that the upper floors don't have a clear escape route.
Leandra Jackson said, "There was no choice but for these people to jump out the window. Something needs to be done. There's no fire plans in the hallways. If a fire starts you have no choice but to come out the window."
The three people who jumped were taken to hospitals with injuries, but they were expected to recover.
The Red Cross was on scene to help the families that were displaced by the fire.
