Donation Drive Underway To Help Churches Hit By Thieves


Three west side churches were broken into last week during brazen robberies.  But now, blockwatch leaders tell 10TV they are hearing even more churches in the area were broken into.

Last Thursday at Westgate Baptist Church, thieves cut wires, stole electronics and the food volunteers deliver to the homeless.  A group of people in Columbus is now working to make sure that pantry gets re-stocked.

Carolyn Robey-Warren with Central Ohio Carry says after seeing a 10TV report and the look on the pastor's face, they knew they had to find a way to help.  So they started a food drive and advertised it on Facebook. They've already been able to get a gift card out to the church to help them.

"For 15 years, this woman has made food, put it in a van and fed the homeless, and to think that she couldn't do that; she was devastated. Every other week they open up their food pantry for the needy at the church,” says Robey-Warren.
