According to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, an 18-year-old male reported he was sexually assaulted by another man Tuesday at Highbanks Metro Park. The alleged incident occurred at 4:30 p.m. The man told investigators he was jogging along a trail when the suspect approached him and engaged him in conversation. He alleges that the man lured him to a secluded area where he sexually assaulted him.

Delaware County detectives are searching for a man described as being about 5’11” and around 170 pounds. The victim described the attacker as being middle-aged, with salt and pepper hair and a graying goatee. The suspect is described as being of Indian descent and speaks with a slight accent. He was wearing a white t-shirt and black vertical stripes with black running shorts. Investigators say they believe the suspect is familiar with the park and its trails.

A spokesperson for the Columbus Metro Parks said park rangers patrol the park by foot, on bikes and in vehicles during the hours the park is open. Park goers tell 10TV the incident is surprising and won’t deter them from visiting the park.

Anyone with information on the alleged attack is urged to call the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office at 740-833-2800.
