Ohio State University has named three firms to work with former Attorney General Betty Montgomery on a second investigation of the OSU marching band. This comes after band director Jon Waters was fired nearly two weeks ago after a two-month probe revealed a “sexualized culture” within the band.
Montgomery will lead the task force and work with outside groups that include Arent Fox law firm, David Vaughn Consulting Group and Ernst & Young.
A fourth cultural assessment firm has yet to be named.
In a statement, Montgomery said, “Understandably, it has been upsetting for many to learn of an Investigation Report issued by the Office of University Compliance and Integrity that says that aspects of the band's culture have created a hostile environment for students and that band leadership failed to take adequate measures to correct the situation and address the situation's effects. “
The firms plan to complete their work and deliver a report to the OSU President Michael Drake and the Board of Trustees by early October of this year.
