Reward Offered To Help Catch Arsonist

The Division of State Fire Marshal needs help solving an arson near Chillicothe.

Someone set fire to a house and barn at 26725 Old U.S. Route 35 in Liberty Township around midnight.

The fire marshal is offering up to a $5,000 reward for information that leads to the identification of the person or persons who set the fire. Investigators think someone may have seen someone leaving the scene before the fire was discovered.

“Information from the public is crucial to solving these kinds of cases,” said State Fire Marshal Larry Flowers. “Investigators want to hear from anyone who saw something out of the ordinary at or around the time of the fire or who may have heard someone speaking about the fire with an unusual level of interest or knowledge.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the State Fire Marshal’s Fire & Explosion Investigation Bureau at 1-800-589-2728 or the Ross County Sheriff’s Office tip line at (740) 773-TIPS.
