Columbus Police closed the roads around Heartland Petroleum after a reported fire forced the employees to evacuate the plant.
Columbus firefighters said the fire started inside a tank in the facility around 10:50 p.m. Saturday.
Columbus Police closed 5th Avenue between East 7th Avenue and North Yearling Road as firefighters worked to get the situation under control.
HazMat was called to the scene as a precaution.
Firefighters say it does not appear anything hazardous spilled.
The road reopened around 1:00 a.m.
