Columbus Police say a 16-year-old girl broke free from a man who tried to kidnap her from a Kroger parking lot last week.

According to Columbus Police, a man driving a 4-door Ford Explorer with the words “security” on the front doors attempted to grab the teen by the arm and force her into the SUV.   The incident occurred at the Kroger on Hilliard Rome Road on June 17.

The victim was able to break free and escape.

Police are hunting for the man who tried to abduct the girl.  He is described as a white male, 25 to 30-years-old with short, brown hair, 6-feet tall, weighing 250-300 pounds.  Police add that the oval “security” tags on the vehicle may be removable.

Anyone with information on the attempted kidnapping is asked to contact Detective Haynes at 614-645-2467
