A former aide at a Cincinnati nursing home could face up to 20 years in prison after being convicted of raping a defenseless 92-year-old resident.
A judge on Monday found 22-year-old Samuel Onyenweaku guilty of the Nov. 24 rape of the woman in her bed at the Amber Park Nursing Home.
A prosecutor said the victim, a widow and former school teacher in Kentucky, was bed-ridden and unable to communicate. She died in February from an unrelated condition.
A nursing supervisor discovered the crime.
The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that a common pleas court judge who heard the case instead of a jury at Onyenweaku's request convicted him of rape, felonious assault and patient abuse. He'll be sentenced July 28.
