Columbus Police said a toddler died Sunday after he was hit by a pizza delivery driver.
The toddler was struck in the 2200 block of Parkville Court around 6:30 p.m.
Police said their preliminary investigation shows the child ran out in front of a pizza delivery driver in a parking lot of an apartment complex.
"Just to see it outside your house it breaks your heart i feel sad for the family," said neighbor Sharee Massey.
Police said the driver stopped at the scene. Detectives said the child was trying to get to an ice cream truck parked in the parking lot.
The boy's mother drove the child to St. Anne's Hospital. A medical helicopter flew the boy to Nationwide Children's Hospital where he died around 8:00 p.m.
Police did not cite the delivery driver.
Parents in the apartment complex say the tragedy is a reminder to keep track of your children.
"I don't let my daughter out of my sight. Right there, in the grass, just far enough anywhere else too far for me," said Ernest Washington.
"I have to constantly keep my kids. if you come outside, you got to stay in front of the house, can't go no where else cause I don't trust it," said Massey.
