Winter’s Chill Still Haunting Fruit Farmers Across Central Ohio

Central Ohio fruit farmers are still feeling the chilling effects from the winter’s polar vortex.

Phyllis Duncan is a farmer at Granny B Farms in Centerburg.

The farm allows guests to pick their own strawberries and other fruits.  Duncan says hundreds of plants were destroyed this winter which equals hundreds of lost dollars.

“The biggest effect were new strawberries that were planted in the fall, every single one of them died… and we lost all of our flora canes for our blackberries,” said Duncan.

Other local farms reported the same story to 10TV about the loss of blackberry and strawberry crops.
