A Columbus couple is accused of leaving a 9-month-old girl alone while they committed a burglary.

Stephanie Blaha and Allen Brumfield were arrested in the 500 block of South Highland Avenue, just a block from the apartment that they live in.

The two were arrested around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Police say the couple, along with a third man, were caught leaving a vacant apartment with carpet that had been cut out from inside.

While Blaha and Brumfield were taken into custody, the third individual got away.

Blaha and Brumfield left a child at their apartment while the alleged crime was being committed. The toddler is now with Children’s Services.

Police say a search of their apartment also turned up stolen property from a burglary that happened in the neighborhood on Friday.

Blaha is facing charges of Breaking and Entering and Child Endangering. Brumfield is charged with Breaking and Entering.

Both are now being held on a $50,000 after facing a judge on Monday.

The third suspect remains at large.
