A man is recovering from a gunshot wound, after he says three men shot at him.
It happened on Joyce Avenue, just north of Hudson Street around 12:45 a.m. Tuesday.
Columbus Police say the three men came to the home and asked for 26-year-old Cyronn Marsh by name.
A family member went to get him and when Marsh stepped outside, more than one of the suspects opened fire.
Marsh then fired his own gun at the suspects, but did not hit anyone.
Marsh’s mother was just blocks away and heard the gunshots. She instinctively called her son to see if he was okay. He told her to call police.
"He was scared. He didn't know where the gunshots were coming from because he got shot from behind, you know from the side. He was just protecting himself. But he knew it was coming from the front of the house and the side of the house," said Sharon Marsh.
Medics took Marsh to an area hospital where his says he is doing okay. He was struck in the upper leg and hip.
“Three guys out here told my son to come out in the driveway. Pow! Pow! Pow! They start shooting,” added Sharon Marsh.
The suspects possibly drove away in a white Impala.
