The city of Galion announced on Tuesday it will end its contract later this month with the CodeRed EMS system in favor of the county-wide CrawfordAlerts system.
In a press release, the city says the new system “enables our citizens to receive many more notifications, if desired, and receiving them via text message and email.” The city adds that it will continue to utilize voice calls during emergencies. Citizens will also have the option to customize the alerts they receive, which include health notifications, waters issues, street closings, detours and special events.
The city says residents must sign up for the service in order to receive the free emergency messages. To register, go to http://entry.inspironlogistics.com/crawford_co_oh/wens.cfm
