A man who inspired a community to rally around him has lost his battle with cancer.
Thomas Worthington High School baseball coach Stephen Gussler has died.
Gussler was a health teacher and coach. He found out about the disease six years ago and students and staff started the “GussStrong” campaign two years ago.
At the time he was diagnosed, he was only given a few months to live, but he did not give up.
A letter sent home from the school to families said, “Through his own example, he taught us all to be GUSSSTRONG, to keep fighting through pain and obstacles in order to reach the next level, whatever that is in every area of life. GUSSSTRONG also means taking care of those around us. Our entire TWHS family mourns our loss.”
