UPDATED: Thursday May 22, 2014 2:59 AM

Some smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms could leave you at risk in dangerous situations.

The manufacturer Nest Labs is recalling the "Nest Protect: Smoke + CO Alarm" because the sound alarm may not go off.

The company says motion near the product can prevent the alarm from sounding when the "Nest Wave" feature is enabled.

To fix it, you need to connect the device to Wifi so it can download a software update that disables the wave feature.
