UPDATED: Tuesday May 20, 2014 3:08 PM

With over 340 mumps cases reported throughout Central Ohio as of last week, health officials are taking action to prevent future cases.

According to state epidemiologist, Mary DiOrio, this is the largest measles and mumps outbreak in the U.S. since 1996.

Health officials encourage residents to properly vaccinate with two doses of measles-mumps-rubella, known as MMR.

Unvaccinated Morrow County residents are being encouraged to attend an upcoming free clinic.

Vaccinations will take place on Wednesday, May 21 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Morrow County Health Department at 619 West Marion Road. Anyone who attends should use Door “C.”
