Police were searching for two suspects accused of opening fire on two men in a car at an east Columbus parking lot.
Witnesses said two people came out from behind a building and started shooting. At least two dozen shots were fired, according to police.
It happened around 5:40 a.m. Friday on Cushing Drive, just south of east Livingston Avenue.
“It was repeated shots, couldn’t tell how many there were because there were so many of them. And then, I ran into the living room and looked out of my window and saw a black Mercedes speeding off,” said witness Donna Jordan.
Officers say the victims drove the bullet-riddled car about four miles away to a fire house on Brice Road and Livingston Avenue.
One of the victims was a 42-year-old man. Police said he was shot at least four times, including in the head. He was rushed to Grant Medical Center in critical condition.
Authorities said the second victim was hit by glass when the car window shattered. The extent of his injuries weren't immediately clear.
The two suspects ran from the scene.
Police were trying to determine a motive for the shooting.
