Candidates in Tuesday's primary include a number of incumbent Republicans facing challengers for a chance to keep their seats this fall in the Ohio Statehouse and U.S. Capitol.
Other contests include spouses and daughters of state lawmakers hoping to represent districts held by family members.
In the race for governor, an endorsed Democratic candidate is already looking past his primary opponent to campaign against Republican Gov. John Kasich.
Voters also will decide which candidates will run in November races for the U.S. House, in a year in which all 16 incumbents are seeking re-election.
The election will determine the outcome of one statewide ballot issue. Voters will choose whether to renew a public works program that funds repairs and upgrades to roads, bridges and other local infrastructure.
