Firefighters were investigating a fire at a home in south Columbus.
The fire started around 2:20 a.m. Tuesday at a home in the 900 block of Tellega Avenue, just off of Lockbourne Road.
One witness said the flames were so large at one point he started recording video of it on his phone.
Fire crews arrived on the scene around 2:30 a.m. and quickly started fighting the huge flames coming from the back of the home. Firefighters said that's an area where the owners had just finished construction on an addition to the home.
The flames did major damage to the home, but the three adults and four children were all able to escape unharmed.
The Red Cross was helping the family with a place to stay.
