Health officials say 321 mumps cases have been reported in Franklin, Delaware and Madison counties since the local outbreak started.

The latest report says 191 of the cases are linked directly to the Ohio State University outbreak.

The central Ohio mumps outbreak now has more than 60 percent of all cases nationwide.

State and local health officials are urging residents to make sure they're properly vaccinated with two doses of measles-mumps-rubella, known as MMR.

Local cases now include these complications:

  • Severe pain
  • Inflammation of the testicles (orchitis) in post pubescent males
  • Inflammation of the ovaries (oophoritis) in post pubescent females
  • Deafness
  • Hospitalizations
