Runners and walkers took over the streets of Columbus for the 11th annual Capital City Half Marathon Saturday morning.
The 13.1 mile route took runners north through the Ohio State University Campus, the Short North and German Village before finishing at the Columbus Commons.
Extra security was evident along the race route after the bombing at the 2013 Boston Marathon.
"I guess it's in the back of everyone's mind, but if you worry about it too much, we'll let people like that win in the fight, so to us, it's trusting the people to do their jobs, cops and firefighters," said runner Mike O'Connor. "I believe in what they're doing, and they're going to keep us safe so we be out here and run the race."
More than 50 bands and DJ's were stationed around the course.
Runners were also treated to a post-race concert at the Columbus Commons.
