An accused serial thief arrested in Fairfield County is being connected to a string of crimes in a Franklin County.
Detectives used a key piece of surveillance video to help track down a suspect.
Fairfield County Sheriff Detective Jason Meadows said someone had been breaking into vehicles for weeks at the Jeff Wyler dealership in Canal Winchester.
“It's not a victimless crime,” said Detective Meadows.
One day after Detective Meadows issued a crime alert, a deputy spotted the car and the suspect in the lot and stopped him.
“We did find tools that would commonly be used for that type of stuff. Screw drivers, pry bars,” said Meadows.
Deputies arrested 33-year-old Brian Kriebel.
Meadows said Kriebel admitted to the thefts at the car dealership.
Thousands of dollars in stolen electronics, including CD and DVD players, were also recovered.
Detective Meadows said he'll be sending out another crime alert because he believes some of the stolen items recovered may be connected to other crimes.
Meadows said Kriebel had just gotten out of jail after he was caught with stolen rims and tires in Whitehall.
Kriebel now faces several felony charges, including theft, from the case in Fairfield county.
