A 13-year-old girl was taken to a hospital in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle in West Columbus.
Police said the girl was struck when crossing the street on North Wilson Road and Twin Peaks Drive around 7 p.m. Saturday.
The child was taken to Nationwide Children's Hosptial.
Bessie Scarberry witnessed the crash.
“As I was pumping the gas I heard a loud smash", Scarberry said. “And then I seen the girl fly up in the air."
Scarberry said the crash was so loud, at first she thought the object on the street was a piece of furniture that fell off a car's roof.
“When she hit, she hit so hard she flew up several feet in the air," described Scarberry.
Police said the driver stopped immediately.
Detectives believed the girl was at fault when she crossed against the light.
Police said the driver of this crash will not be charged.
