A woman has died after she was shot in the head outside an apartment in north Columbus.
Columbus Police detectives began combing through the apartment of 31-year-old Katrina Gregory hoping to find clues. Clues that may lead them to the person that shot her.
Otis Roddy lives only feet from where the shooting occurred. At the time, he didn't know someone was shot. But he knew something was wrong. And now it appears that he may have been the only witness.
“I heard a shot first. It was sort of a muffled sound,” Roddy recalls. “Then they dashed out that doorway (and) ran into the parking lot and they took off.”
The shooting happened just before midnight in the 800-block of Dublin Granville Road. Police say Gregory was outside her apartment when she was approached by the gunman who fired at least one shot, striking her in the head. Gregory was taken to the hospital in life threatening condition.
Meantime, people who live in the complex tell 10TV it has become a troubled area.
“It's getting unsafe to live around here,” says resident Karen Howson
Roddy was not able to provide a good description of the man he saw running from the scene. But police are hoping some answers at Gregory’s apartment.
It's unclear what evidence they may have found there, but they're clearly looking for more clues to try and find out who this gunman is.
