Blood Moon Graces Night Sky

UPDATED: Tuesday April 15, 2014 8:33 AM

North and South America saw the first lunar eclipse of the year.

The result was a "Blood Moon" created when the moon is eclipsed by Earth's shadow.

It was visible across the Western Hemisphere, but not in central Ohio due to heavy cloud cover.

The whole phase lasted only 78 minutes.

On April 29, the Southern Hemisphere will be treated to a rare type of solar eclipse.
