One Person Dead In Southeast Columbus Fire

One person is dead after a fire at an apartment in Southeast Columbus.

It happened around 5:28 a.m. Sunday in the 3200 block of Stamford Bridge Road near Canal Winchester.

The Franklin County coroner identified the victim as Michael Jerome Jackson.

Witnesses at the scene said the fire started in the kitchen. Fire officials are investigating the cause of the fire.

Neighbors were also evacuated from the apartment complex for about 2 hours. They were allowed back inside their homes around 7:30 a.m.
