Massive Meth Lab Bust In Pickaway County

UPDATED: Thursday April 10, 2014 3:15 PM

Authorities arrested a man after finding an alleged meth operation and explosives at his rural home.

Ronald Hedges was arrested on drug charges.  Police say a huge meth operation was discovered behind Hedges’ house.

His house was even contained explosives and construction-level igniting compounds, called “blast caps”.

A neighbor of Hedges, Tyler Williams said, "Totally blown away. We moved out here a couple years ago from in town and there was a... drug people on that whole street, so we kind of moved out here thinking we were going to get away from all of this. Now, this is the second one in at least a year that's been busted on this street."

The night Hedges was arrested, deputies from several counties and a bomb squad arrived to the rural area. The crime scene tape still remains.

"We could have been in danger, could have blown up anytime,” said Williams.
Williams spoke of how he used to take his children on walks by Hedge’s house. Now, all of the extra traffic he saw there makes sense.

Officials are asking all residents to stay alert. Many times the tips that police can receive from the public have significant impact.

Hedges appeared in Pickaway County Municipal Court on Thursday.
