Woman Fights Ohio Law Limiting Claims Versus State

Ohio's high court will listen to arguments later this month in a challenge of a law that puts a two-year time limit on claims against the state.

A Cleveland woman who says she was raped by two state prison guards fourteen years ago in a juvenile correctional facility is challenging the Ohio law.

State law allows victims of childhood sexual abuse until age 30 to file lawsuits over what they couldn't acknowledge until they were adults.

But a separate law says claims against the state must be filed within two years of the abuse.

The Columbus Dispatch reports that the Ohio Supreme Court will hear arguments at the end on the month.

The Department of Youth Services isn't commenting on the lawsuit.
