Grandson, 4 Others, Indicted For Murder Of Orient Man

A Pickaway County Grand Jury has handed down indictments for the murder of 84-year-old Thomas Whitson.

Whitson's grandson is one of five people now charged in his killing.

Shaun Lawson, 30, is Whitson's grandson. He's been indicted on seven charges, including Aggravated Murder with a Gun Specification.

The other charges are as follows:

    Kyle Robinson - Age 20 - 7 Counts which also include Aggravated Murder
    Joshua Johnson - Age 20 - 2 Counts including Aggravated Burglary
    Jordan Legg - Age 17 - 6 Counts including Aggravated Murder
    Jesse Akers - Age 17 - 3 Counts including Murder

Whitson was found shot Sunday afternoon in his Orient home. Investigators say the theft of firearms was the motive.

The sheriff also said on Friday that all seven firearms taken during the burglary which led to Whitson's death have been recovered at Columbus homes.
