The mystery of a broken tombstone found in the yard of a northern Ohio woman has been solved.
Mansfield police say the tombstone once marked the grave of World War II veteran Leroy Paul Miller at Mansfield Cemetery.
The tombstone found this past week had been split, leaving only portions of a few words and the birth date.
A search of Richland County veterans records matched the partial information with Miller. The Bolivar, Pa., native born in 1923 moved to Mansfield and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Another marker bearing the names of Miller and his wife Katherine, who died in 1971, now marks the grave.
Police are trying to find Miller's survivors.
