Hope Fading In Search For Washington Mudslide Survivors

UPDATED: Saturday March 29, 2014 7:59 AM

Officials in Washington state say the difficulty of searching the sticky mudslide debris that covers Oso, northeast of Seattle, makes it impossible to establish a time frame for completing the recovery effort.

They also say there's no guarantee of accounting for all the missing and that heavy rain since the slide has made things worse.

There are some bodies that have been found but not recovered yet and not added to the official death toll of 17.

Authorities say they have all but abandoned hope of finding mudslide survivors.

There are 90 people confirmed missing from last Saturday's mudslide.
